Anatoly Melkov was an honoured arts worker of Karelia. He worked at the Karelo-Finnish Theatre of Musical Comedy. In 1961-1980 was the head painter at the Lensovet Theatre in Leningrad. The most famous works by Melkov are his set designs for the following plays: "Tanya" (1963), "My Poor Marat" (1965) and "Old-fashioned Comedy" (1975) by A.N. Arbuzov, "War- saw Melody" (1967) by L.G. Zorin, "The Taming of the Shrew" (1970) by William Shakespeare, "In the Name of the Earth and the Sun" (1978) by Ion Drutse and others.
